I have a 85 corvette that seems to be all original. It have been sitting for a couple of years before I bought it 2 weeks ago. Each day it drives better. Lately when I get on it hard it hesitates before taking off. Only when I try to accelerate hard. Under normal driving conditions it drives find. What could be causing this?
Since it's been sitting so long I'd guess partially clogged injectors. I'm assuming you have fresh fuel in it now. It would be a good idea to replace the fuel filter first and try a good quality injection cleaner. I've had good luck w/BG products 44K but i don't know if it's available everywhere...Techron is also good. My guess is you'll end up replacing injectors though. If my guess is correct ...contact Jon at FIC Injectors they are vendors on this forum and have a super reputation.
You might need to give it a good tune-up seeing as it's been sitting that long plugs, wires, cap, and rotor. But the injectors do go bad because of the ethanol in today’s gas. At least pull the plugs and have a look at them.
I Just bought an 84 that had been sitting for 15 years, When I got it I had to tow it home.. I had to drained the fuel tank & flushed the lines ( YUCKY/NASTY), had to change the sending unit as it was rusted to hell & laying on the bottom of the tank, Changed the fuel filter & the F/P relay & what do you know, the car cranked right up.. The car seems to run great for sitting this long & seems to get better the more I drive it.. I am in the middle of restoring the interior now
But am gonna change the plugs, wires ect. next.. I think I am gonna need to change the injectors as well, But will try the techron additive first.
