i bought some proform tall valve covers and was wondering if someone snapped a pic of what they did to make the alternator clear? this is on an lt4. thanks
That's why most guys don't go with the taller valve covers. If that's what you want, find a good machinist and design your own. I haven't seen anyone's fix for this as of yet. If you do design one please post your pictures and maybe make a deal with your machinist to produce them for the forum.
i know a bunch of people have these valve covers. i went with them cause i couldn't afford to buy new stock ones. i had a lifter fail a few yeras ago and sent a pushrod into it cracking it. i epoxied it but it leaks and looks like crap.

Josh,
I run the proforms above and had to grind the lower back side of the Alt. below the bearing to get adequate clearance on the 95 but it cleared fine. I did make a block to raise the alt. a little though due to the smaller ATI damper I run in order to keep the stock belt and allow easier removal of the valve cover without moving the Alt. I have a few general pics I can e-mail you showing the install but not much in way of the Alt. grinding done if you PM me your e-mail address.

I'm running the same ones. I simply marked the area of interference - a quarter size area - with a Magic marker. The removed the alternator, taped off all the openings and used my high-speed Makita to grind down the offending area.
It didn't take much grinding and only took a few minutes. Only downside is the alternator probably wouldn't be accepted as a core should it fail and I needed a replacement.
Sorry, no photos but it's a piece of cake to do.
