An idea on my rough idle problem... will this work?
Here's an update, I've changed out everything but th MAF, which appears to be fine, including sensors, and tune up items. Idles rough, feels like it misfires. Acceleration seems smooth.
The car shakes.. vrrRrrrRRrrrrRRrrrRRRrrRRRr like that..
However, I popped it in neutral last night at a long light.. and it idled like a mercedes in Neutral. For half a second, I thought the engine had died!
So.. Maybe if I burn a chip that sets my idle to oh... 750.. it will idle smooth in gear, too?

Something must be up with your 86 dude. My 87 idles like a CHAMP. NO PROBLEMS! Are you SURE you don't have a plug wire mixed up? I missed a plug wire on my friends 88 IROC-Z TPI, and it idled like CRAP.

How about the injectors? when were they cleaned last?
KM
They were never officially cleaned.. I took it some place to have them cleaned, you know, apart from the crap in the tank, and the guy wouldn't do it.
when i pull my runners off to do the gaskets, im gonna have them rebuilt.

Check the resistance at each injector also. If you notice a noticeable variance, then you might have a bad injector...
I've never noticed mine having a "bad" idle. It's a SLIGHTLY noticeable idle...but I mean, hey, it's a Corvette, it's NOT going to idle like a honda. (and I don't want it to!)

These things like to idle [bass]LOW[/bass], mine idles at 500 rpms. If you burn a chip to a higher rpm, say 900, I bet you'd have an awesome idle. I don't know why we didn't think of this before. Its hard for the engine to be smooth at such a low rpm, the higher the better.
Good luck.
*edit* PS. The motor in my signature idles at 32,400 rpms, smooth as glass.
