Is there a complete engine gasket set you guys would recommend? I'm putting aluminum heads on my '85 (113s), so would I be ok with a steel head gasket or should I get copper? What about header/manifold gaskets for the D-port heads? TIA...
This is a very good question and Im sure the others will chime in with more info.
Theres a specific type of head gasket suggested/required for use with alloy heads and a cast iron block.
I have the fel pros head gaskets for my 86 with alloy heads but have also heard some people say theres a problem with them, but Ive seen no problems yet.I think it was something about the rings coming apart or corrsosion.
Ill let the others chime in for the suggestions.
However, fel pro has a good "Intake and Up"
gasket set that includes everything you need for the intake, runners, plenum,tb,distributor, etc .
Ive used that and its a good kit.
Some people Ive spoke to use the Fel pro intake and up TPI kit while buying a different brand of head gaskets.

Yes. According to AFR, they have had problems with the Fel-Pro 1010 gaskets. Apparently, the stainless steel wire in them comes loose sometimes and tends to hang down in the intake chamber, heating up really good and causing predetonation. That's why the changed their recommendation to the 1003.
