Default antenna

I need to replace the antenna motor system on my 1989 C-4
it is in the down position and makes no noise what so ever
checked fuse ok
what is the best way to get to unit
someone said to go thru rear lites
others said take off rear wheel and fender housing

can someone please advise

I would appreciate It

I'm not sure on 89's but on my 85 the easiest way was to remove wheel and inner fender housing. Everything was pretty easy to get to. Main problem was getting enough grip on the nut holding the antenna to fender to remove it. If you have long arms this should be pretty easy.

I did my 89 a few months ago and I just worked from the bottom. I pulled the rubber piece off the top,took off the top nut, and removed the 2 bolts from the bottom that held it in. Then you have to disconnect the wires and the cable, (Reverse procedure to put the new one in)..I didn't replace the whole unit, I just took it apart and replaced the ribbon but the process is the same..Here is a link to thepartsladi, they have a new GM AC Delco unit for $134.00, Can't beat the price, and it comes with instructions...WW
