starter is good, battery is good, runs good, turn over nothing no clicking, the dash lights come on and nothing, I took the car out of park then put it back nothing, adjusted steering wheel nothing waited about 10 minutes and it started up, brought it home turned it off, turned it over again and it started up again, What do you think it might be any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks Skully77
It sounds to me like a VATS issue. VATS normally takes about 4 minutes to reset when it doesnt receive the proper input. I had that problem recently and found out that the contacts on my key where worn out. Got new key and problem is fixed. I could also be just some grime on your key. Clean your key and try subsequent starts.
Year model and trans would help ; not mind readers.
sorry it is an 1986, the starter is about 2 yrs old,and yes I meant I would turn the key and no sound at all just the dash lights would come on, The starter is a delco and about 2 yrs old. thanks in advance for any tips or help, Skullmaster.
If this keeps happening, run an idiot light to the starter wire. That way you will know if it gets the signal or not. Sometimes it can be the neutral starter switch.
Check all connections make sure they are clean, battery, grounds & starter that way you know they are good. Do you remember if the security light was flashing? You can also try cleaning the pellet on the key with alcohol. Maybe it was not reading the resistance correctly
