Default Turbo automatic slightly slipping when very cold

Any tips on this? It only does it when very cold--first started, and slips a little in drive--but moreso in reverse. After a couple of minutes it woks fine. (1985 year turbo auto). Thanks in advance.

You too huh? Mine did this a few times, once everything is warmed up, it's A O K. Hadn't gotten a straight answer. My fluid was checked and it was clear as a bell.

I think that is pretty normal.
Most cars will do that right as they are very cold.
Thats why u DONT race them right after turning on the engine.

Oh no, this is a bit too slippy when cold--it won't hardly move at all. I was just wondering is there was a little semi-fix to this problem--short of a tranny rebuild. Thanks.

Maybe the governor? I thought that was my problem. Not sure if they checked mine at the tranny shop. One thing is for sure, PLEASE check your fluid. If there is any metal in there, you have a problem. The convertor and trans share the same fluid. If one goes, it can sometimes take the other with it. Do yourself a favor and at least see how the fluid is. It should still be red and not smell burnt.

Let us know how you made out. If it means anything... I have a similar problem...my fluid tested clean, and not a single shaving anywhere, beyond weird.

Good luck.

JD

my camaro (same transmission by the way) did this exact same thing you are speaking of. it will get worse to the point where it will not shift into 3rd or 4th until its real warmed up. my transmission lasted over a year like this, even being beat on pretty bad. it never did actually fail, just got swapped out.

could be the fluid being to cold? Try changing your filter out, and put some good Amsoil synthetic Tranny fluid. *better heat resistance and less effected by cold* and see if that helps any. Good luck
