Default Need Some Help After Heads, Intake Install

I installed AFR 195 heads (compliments of tpi421vette), SR intake and TPiS headers. Just tried to start the beast. It tries to run but dies. I'm assuming timing but I can't get it to run long enough to check. The computer chip has not yet been tuned. Anything I might be missing?

I also have a new problem of an oil leak when it does run coming from the flex plate shield drain hole.

My guess would be distributor. I would realign everything and re stick it. The car will run with stock chip, but will need a tune.
My car is simular and it runs with stock chip, but I had it tuned by someone who knows what they are doing.

That's where I'm leaning. I had some help installing the heads, intake and distributor. I was very careful to to set the crank at 6 deg BTDC and I was sure #1 was at TDC. The guy who set the distributor dropped it in and then twisted back and forth. So basically I have no idea where its timed.

When you drop it in it should only move one click to the down position moving clockwise. Re set #1 @ TDC check timing mark on balancer 0* to 6* and try to start. Make sure the slot alignment drive on oil pump is lined up with dizzy.
The other way to do it would be remove dizzy cap set # 1 to TDC and move plugs wires to match up with rotor position. If you are only one tooth off this might work better if you don't want to pull the dizzy.

Thanks. When it does run (and it will) it should be a nice wake up for this motor. There happens to be a car show nearby on Saturday. Chip Foose is supposed to be there. I'm trying to get this thing running in time.

Hi Craig, start with rechecking the distributor. But another problem with later model L98's is the fuel feed line and return line are the same size. So make sure they are routed right. It is possible to hook them up backwards. You can simply check fuel pressure, and that will confirm if it's OK.

First just try advancing the timing a little at a time, turn the dist counter clockwise, and see if it runs.
