I see Summit lists speed bleeders by thread size and threads per inch. I have a "91" Vette. I think the thread size is 10mm but what is the threads per mm?? I guess I need to know what size I need for the front calipers.
Look at the Earl's Solo-Bleed design in the link I posted.
The Earl's Solo-Bleeds don't rely on gunky thread sealant but, instead uses an External Spring and ball shaft design to Positively seal and release brake fluid. If the thread sealant on the Russel speed bleeders fail, air can enter the caliper through the threads.
How do you install the speedbleeders? I'm thinking of doing the front since one of the bleeder screws is starting to round off. May just pick some up from Autozone.
I wasn't sure if you fill up the reservoir, pop the old screw off, then install the new screw. Or do you have to run the lines dry then install the screw?
And how do you flush the brake fluid with these? I'm guessing you just keep the reservoir full and pump the brake pedal till clean fluid comes out? And do you need to put something down to keep the brake pedal from bottoming out like I've read you have to do when you have a helper on the stock bleeder screw?
Just unscrew and screw the new ones in, then connect a hose to them like normal, crack the bleeder quarter to half turn, and pump brakes until you get clean fluid (making sure the reservoir stays filled, you get maybe a dozen pumps before you need to fill), then tighten them down and remove the hose.
