I'm thinking about changing to the polyurethane bushing on just my front and rear swaybar. Has anybody done this and is there a noticeable difference in the handling just changing the sway bar bushing only? Pro's and Con's please
I replaced all the bushings with poly except the swaybar. It was recommended to leave it with the stock rubber to reduce the small bumps and road noise sometimes associated with the poly bushings. I like my setup a lot. No more hopping around on rough corners, stays straight on road with curvey rain cuts. Feels like it's on rails. No annoyingly jarring ride.
I did just the poly sway bar bushing/endlinks at the same time I was replacing the stock 26mm hollow/24 mm solid front and rear sway bars. Even with the stiffer 30mm solid front and 26mm solid rear sway bars I wasn't able to notice any increase noise, vibe, harshness. I was able to notice an increase in handling.
IMHO, poly bushings and bigger sway bars is a great mod, the best thing I did to my car, esp considering the cost is under $250.
I just did all the bushings except for the sway bars on my car. It is soooooo much better now. I am going to put Poly sway bar bushings in soon. Since my car is a vert, noise from new bushings is not gonna be a big deal.
Hey I got a question for those of that have done the swaybars. Asume we're talking about the Doug Rippie kit, In regards to the front bar, what's the deal with the sleeve? Am I susposed to press it out of the old bar and reuse it in the new one?
I pressed/wacked the sleeve out of the end of the swaybar, then drilled/torched the rubber bushing inside of the sleeve. The only thing I reused was the outer sleeve. Pressed the sleeve back into the new bar, then lubed the poly bushing and installed it.

:yesnod: Leave the outer shell in the sway bar and replace the bushing and the inner sleeve that goes inside the bushing.
I replaced ALL bushings in the car with Poly. Bone jarring? You bet... but wouldn't think its any worse than stock. Early C4's with Z51 are stiff already :yesnod:
The control arms squeak now when going over bumps. Does anyone know how to eliminate this squeak?
My first guess is that you may not have enough grease on the bushing contact surfaces and on the outside surface of the inner sleeves. I'd try regreasing them, don't be too sparing with the stuff.
