Default Heater/AC blower fan switch

It doesn't always work on high, I can turn it down a notch and then it's ok, sometimes I can jiggle it and it comes on, sometimes not. Also there is a hissing noise in the morning when I put on the heater for a few minutes till the switches are made. Is that function of switches built into the control on a manual unit or is there a vaccum canister in the dash I need to replace?

It sounds like two things one not a real problem the other not that expensive the fan problem is probably the high speed blower relay under the hood over by the blower motor. The vaccumn hissing is probable coming from the vaccumn switch in the A/C control head, there is a seperate vaccumn switch and it is not uncommon over time for it to leak a little dirt and sitffness of the seal, moving the lever back and forth will sometimes make it stop for a time but could come back in the morning. You can either live with it or remove the control head and remove the switch and carefully take it apart and clean it up and put it back together or replace the switch, don't know how much they are but don't think they are very expensive.

Will the relay only make it not work on High? I'll try it, I thought the relays would control all speeds?
Thanks,

It's a double contact relay when off power flows through to to lower speeds when energized the power comes from fusable link to blower motor for high speed.
