I just went to get an A/C delco transmission filter and no auto parts store have them. They have a pro king brand for 1/3 of the price 10 bucks, they can order me the A/C delco if I want for 28 bucks.
So my question do you guy's trust the cheaper filters in your Vette's.
Also what kind of fluid do you guy's use?
I found wix.fram and pro king around here.
I guess I could go to the dealer also I'm sure they will have it.
I am also gona install a transmission drain plug to cut down on the mess on my next filter change.
Purolator P1195 carried by PepBoys $14 (AFAIK they all come out of the same Chinese factory but this one works)
Oh and about the drain plug, a fluid transfer pump ($6 at Harbor Freight) will work just as well at emptying the pan and can also be used on the differential.
I did my diff 2 weeks ago.
I have that pump?syfene
I wana put A plug in for next time.2 bucks for the kit just gotta poke a hole in the pan and install it,then I can drain and refill whenever needed, faster than the pump.

I think any brand filter will work fine. I always install a drain plug the first time I drop the pan on any of my cars. Makes future oil changes a lot easier. I sometimes get lazy and change the oil only without changing the filter.
If all you are going to do is drain the fluid from the pan then you won't be changing all of the trans fluid. You'll get a few quarts from the pan, leaving 6-8 quarts or so in the trans and TC.
I would start by having a complete flush done by a reputable shop that uses a flushing machine. Don't go to a drive-thru lube joint Find a good shop with experienced techs. After that is done, you can do your own quick changes. A shop will even do the drain plug install while the pan is off for a filter change.
If the car is used for street use, then a good grade of Dexron III is all you need. Synthetic trans fluid is probably overkill especially if you will be doing the maintenance stuff you describe on a regular basis.
As far as trans filters, there are a number of good brands; WIX, CarQuest, NAPA and others. The AC Delco filters sold at retail stores are made for AC Delco by companies that supply the same filters for all sorts of brands.
I don't like going to other shops for maint.
I think I will change it install the filter and plug, drive it a few miles then drain using my drain plug and fill again.then once a year I can drain and refill(Iwill only put 3000-5000 a year on so sooner or later most fluid will be new).Every 5 I will change filter

Change the oil and filter, put new oil in the pan, disconnect the return line from the cooler to the tranny. Run the motor until you get about 4 quarts out of the line or the fluid looks clean. Button everything up, put in 4 quarts of new fluid and you now have clean tranny fluid.
