Default New SuperRam cheater tool.

I put new lifters in the car over the weekend and just wanted to say I'm in love with a new tool.

I already don't think the SuperRam is bad to take off and put on, but a 3/8" drive ~6" long hex 6mm socket is awesome! I usually use a L-shape ball-ended 6mm hex wrench to get the lower runner bolts, but this baby is slim enough to go straight at them over the exhaust rockers and get right in them. In the past I've sometimes had to take 4 exhaust rockers off to get at the bolts well enough.

The picture doesn't represent it perfectly, but you get the idea. In real life the socket has much more diameter than the hex portion. It almost looks like it got its width stretched in this pic.

I used a 3" long allen to install my lower bolts. Do you still have to remove rocker arms?

Uhh... did you read my post? No I did not have to remove the exhaust rockers to get at the lower bolts with this. You'll want to make sure those cylinders aren't on their exhaust stroke, but otherwise it's ok.

Unrelated, but we found the threads in the runners for the two bolts that come in from reverse were nearly stripped. We helicoiled them (8x1.25mm) and it's back to being nice and tight on those bolts.

I know what you mean it's just a long ball head allen socket. I use them on the lower bolts I have in my TPI. I got a good set from Sears.

No no, not a ball headed one, those are weaker. That's what I used to use before.

I was and still am the self proclaimed Super Ram installation KING...LOL I must have removed and installed that thing easily 50+ times on the 90. And then another 20-30X on the 91. I still have all my little SR trick install tools in a special drawer in the roll around box.

Scorp, I made a tool just like that years ago with a welder and a long 1/4 extension. I could never find exactly what I wanted so I just made one.

How am I not surprised Lee comes out of hiding when a SR thread pops up. You probably have one on the ZR1 by now too.

Get yourself an itty bitty 3/8" 12 point box wrench if you don't have one for the perimeter bolts.

Amen to that. I have big fat roller rockers and I use a 6" allen ball stud too. Can hit them from any angle and you are good to go. Never loosened a rocker arm in several installations.

Lingenfelters told me of a trick they used. Slot the bolts so you can use a small screwdriver to turn them. When they get tight, use the wrench to tighten it.

I'll give you some competition on the "King" thing. I think my numbers on my '84 will surpass your combined numbers.

I just installed my SR for the third time in 6 months. I have no desire to compete with your numbers. I bow to the King.

The 2 longer socket head bolts are for the runners to intake. They install from the back of the runners.

The 4 smaller socket head bolts go on the bottom of the runners.

The remaining medium length socket and torx fill the remaining holes in the runners.

I'm assuming all the 2nd row are the same metric size just different lengths.

LMAO, I know it is not terrible, and I use an allen wrench also with a socket, but I think to my self what a silly design to have so many parts where leaks can happen. If the BBK was real, and was the same potential, I would have one.

A friend of mine who is a C3 owner stated it well. "I wouldn't care if it made 1 hp more, it looks bitchin." The looks and performance make it worth the hassle. Besides, wrenching is half the fun.
