I decided to get on it last night on a back road to see what the car would do and I noticed that I never shifted. I got 100-200 rpms into redline and decided I didnt want to chance it. What could be causing this to happen? Any ideas would be appreciated. (700r4 auto) Oh, it shifts fine during normal driving.
When I first got my vette it would shift out of first during wot. It would go up to about 5k and act like it was hitting the rev limiter. During anything other than wot it would shift fine. Turned out to be a bad coil. Replaced it and it's ran great ever since (I do have a different trans). BTW my tach runs right up to 6k before it shifts during wot. Good luck.
I have the same problem with WOT shifts...it shifts too late when the motor isnt making power anymore. I think its the governor that causes this, or the weights and springs inside the governor. Change that and it should shift just right.
The problem is it is an automatic transmission :) . A manual will shift when you make it. In all seriousness, there could be lots of things causing this and I wouldn't want to make a guess and you do the wrong thing.

wow, noob... that makes you shiftless... :jester
I agree... but this suggestion makes sence... whenever there is a problem with an auto, I check fluid. make sure it is clean, and that there is enough of it.
