Default 95 air pump off question...

Alright, on my 95 vette my air pump is fubar (was wrecked in the left front) and it makes a horribly loud whining noise when it's running (makes it sound like I have a blower) and I'm pretty sure it's causing my car to run rough and throw DTC 44 (lean code). Does this sound plausible? Will my car dump fuel or run like crap having the pump disconnected for now until I get a new one?

Thanks

That pump should only run for a few minutes at startup. It should not cause what you describe. You can remove it but it may throw a code.

You don't needed it and the only code you should get is for the pump itself.

Pull the pump and cap all the manifold check valves. Leave
the relay and it will run fine, no codes. benny

Well, I can't say you are wrong, but there are four DTCs associated with the operation of the AIR system on an LT1. Seems to me that if it is not operating, you would get an SES from at least one of them.

The '96s are very picky about that stuff. You are right, the
AIR pump has to be tuned out. The older ones are easier to
delete things on. benny

It seems to run fine with out it and the check engine light I keep getting I believe is related to a bad o2 sensor, but the only scanner I have found to work on my 95 is out for an update for a few more weeks so I cannot monitor the pid to verify that is the problem
. How again do you check for codes on an OBDI system without a scanner?
