Default MAF/tuning question

IF you take the screens out of the MAF to increase the air for HP, 1st, would that be bad in anyway, like would crap get though, of not?
2nd, Would you have to tune the car after removing the screens? cuz tuning would be another project that im not ready for

Personally, I don't think there's enough of a power gain to warrant potential damage to a $400 part. But if you do, removing the screens will improve air flow. No tuning will be required. The MAF will sense the additional air and the computer will compensate. The air filter should filter out anything that could damage those thin wires.
