Default TV CABLE

I think that my transmission tv cable needs a slight adjustment...I cannot find anything on adjusting it in the 1990 factory service manual...Does anyone know how to make adjustments...or do you think that I should let a transmission shop handle it???????  :seeya :seeya

Every TV cable-equipped car I've ever owned (2) it was just a matter of using a screwdriver to push in on the tab, and then slide the little black "bead" up or back.

The shop manuals say that it must be pushed all the way in first to reset it, but at least on my 87 Z24 and 87 Turbo Regal, I never had to.

And don't get too carried away with the adjustment, too much and the car just stays in each gear until you redline and then let off the gas, then will finally allow an upshift. Too little and it'll slide into second right after starting out in first.

A small adjustment can bump the line pressures up enough to get a solid shift and hang onto each gear a bit longer, without damaging your tranny.

On my 88, its a big D shaped button on the side of the cable housing. You push and it should snap back. Manually open it to WOT and that will set it.
