The VATS is not a problem. The car will run with the chip by itself, just not exactly right. The car has some hesitation right when the throttle is first cracked. I think this may be a TPS issue, but I haven't had a chance to check. It also feels really weak until about 2k rpm, where it changes power dramatically. For example, I can put it in 3rd gear and just mash the throttle. The car goes ok, but when it hits the magic rpm, the power just increases in a hurry. That was what I was describing in the earlier posts. When I first started driving with the stock chip, I figured it was some kind of low rpm fuel economy thing, since I had never driven the car w/o the hypertech. Bill's initial reply was that this is not correct, which leads me to conclude that something is fishy with my "stock" chip.
Neither of these 2 issues occur with the hypertech installed. Throttle is powerful right off the bat, and power is smooth up through the rpms. Maybe it is the case that I have some other problems at work that the hypertech covers up; which is why I want to get a known good stock chip to try (and as a backup).
