Default 91 L98 woes

A while back I made a couple of posts about what seem like small problems. Here they are again as I am about ready to sell the car if it will not perform like a Corvette. First an occasional miss at idle new plugs wires etc. No change, pulled one injector at a time and each has a drop that makes sense doulble checked the plug wires (fireing order) they are fine injectors ohm ok hot and cold all around 15 to 16. Never got one post on ideas or something to check.. I have a 3.1 liter Pontiac Grand Prix and the Corvette while pretty is not much faster if at all. On acceleration it sort of runs ok but does not pull very hard a burnout is out of the question not going to happen there is not enough power on tap to turn them up. Second I started a thread that got a lot of posts aboutthe TV cable
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c4-t...-tv-cable.html
Finally got the time to try this pushed the button and the little ferrule went in but never ratched out when I went to WOT but still looks a lot like the one in the pics in this th read so I have no idea how much it is going to move but will give it a try it has always shifted at the correct speeds if that matters. I did take a friend for a ride on the interstate yesterday before the cable adjustment hit the ramp to get on at around 60 and gave it a swat on the throttle and could not feel a downshift just a long agonizing pull up to speed reasonably smooth but no zip if that makes sense. did the same from a clients shop in South Windsor CT pulled out on to the road at 15 or 20 and the same thing to 50 or so smooth but no gear changes that were memorible in any way. Is this normal for a L98 automatic with 3.07 gears? I hear all the engine sounds etc. from various you tube stufff and mine sounds nothing like it. If there is a C4 owner with an L98 in the Mystic ct area take my car for a ride and let me know normal or not.

I have a '91 coupe with A/T 3.07 and what you are describing in NOT normal. I'm not a mechanic, but I can tell you that at the speeds you state, the transmission should down shift and certainly be detectable. I'm not a mechanic, but clearly your ride's transmission is NOT operating like my Vette with the same specs. Suggest you find a recommended transmission shop in your area maybe by posting on the REGIONAL segment here on the FORUM,

GOOD LUCK and SAVE THE WAVE

OK when I push the button on the cable and push in the slider it goes back. Reading the FSM it says to make sure it is back then open the throttle to WOT when I do that the slider does not move at all if I push the button on the cable and rotate to WOT it does move. What is the proper procedure? It seems to go back to approximately where it was before I reset it..

Sounds like you need a new TV cable. The fact you can pull it out with the button pushed means it is not jamming up in the trans

i had a similar problem with mine..its like it was stetched beyond its limits over the years.. all i did was pull the end through the linkage a tad and put a crimp on the cable, it took the slack away an i was able to adjust it with the proper prcedure
good luck !
if this fails .. a new cable is my suggestion

New cable is next.. Got the power back by changing plug wires I bought a set off a forum member for a deal and never thought twice about checking them and around 16 to 17 k ohms when i checked them today a new set of MSD wires and a fresh set of plugs and a rocket compared to before if I shift manually. In OD it is a snooze so I will start with a new cable for that. How fast not important but don't want to bust the list rules but scoot R'us... The other part that goes with this is a trans fluid change is there anything to go wrong with that? I trust the valve body does not need to come off...If so they may have screwed the pooch on that one..
