I have also had bad experiences with Tony's Corvette shop. In the summer of 2004, I took my car to his shop to have the rear differential fluid, manual transmission fluid and fuel filter replaced. When I got the car home I smelled gas so I looked at the fuel filter and saw that it was leaking gas (fire hazard) from one of the fuel filter connections. The shop was closed but I called the next day and described the problem to Tony. He said the person that did the work on my car was on vacation and I would have to wait for the mechanic to come back from vacation (one week) for my car to be fixed. Only after I insisted that it be fixed promptly and I told him I needed to drive my car, did he say to bring the car in. They have multiple mechanics so this shouldn't have been a problem. The original mechanic didn't put new o-rings on the fuel filter and that is what caused the filter to leak.
After around a month from getting my car back from the work performed above at Tony's corvette shop I started noticing noises comming from the rear of my car when making turns which I never had before. I called Tony and arranged to take the car in to his shop. Tony and I went for a ride in my car and he heard the noise. He said to drive the car back to the shop so they could take a look at it. I asked if they were going to check the fluid and he said there was nothing wrong with the fluid so they were not going to check that. Tony and a mechanic inspected the car and said the differential was bad and needed to be replaced. I found that hard to believe because my car had low miles, was in great shape, was maintained properly and they had just worked on the rear differential. Tony wrote a repair estimate of $2,600 to replace the differential and universal joints in order to fix the problem. I knew that if the posi-additive or enough of the posi-additive wasn't put in the differential fluid that it could cause the differential to make noise. I called Doug Rippie's shop, explained the problem and he suggested putting in two bottles of the posi-additive which was what I was thinking also. I added two bottles of the posi-additive to the differential and most of the noise went away immediately. As I drove the car more, the noise went away completely and I have not had the problem again and it has been 5 years. It cost me around $20 to fix a problem that Tony's corvette shop caused and they wanted to charge me $2,600. The posi-additive should have been the first thing to check yet Tony and his mechanic didn't want to check it when I suggested it to them. I wonder if they did this on purpose knowing I would be back later and at that time would rip me off for a lot of money.
Obviously, I wouldn't recommend Tony's corvette shop to anyone.
FYI, Pat Goss has/had a column in the National Corvette Owner's Association (NCOA) newsletter called "Goss' Garage" that is a question and answer forum about Corvettes. I haven't been a subscriber for some time so I don't know if he currently writes the column but he did. So in his mind he thinks he is a corvette expert.
I have been reading this thread with much interest, I have come to the conclusion that I dont trust ANY SHOP to work on my car. I took my 94 in with a power problem at WOT and after $850. and lots of parts including the opti (which wasnt the problem) I still had the problem, the mechanic screwed up and sent the new opti in for core and reinstalled the old, then when they tried again they put it in wrong and my timing was jacked up, they somehow bent one of the pulleys, and did a **** poor job of getting my car back together. they also sent it to other shops because they could not figure out what was wrong (with the opti being in wrong) they had my car for 3 months. I am not a mechanic by any means and need assistance from people who know and after talking to forum members and going to see one I had an answer to my problem - Fuel Pump - Nathan tested the pressure while driving and at WOT it dropped to 17psi. This shop played with the fuel pressure but assured me that was not a problem.
So im done venting now but the bottom line for me is learn to work on your own cars and stay far away from any shop.

What we need on this forum is a DO NOT GO TO THIS SHOP section. We could then post the reasons why, and ask the shop owners to explain why they won't honor warantees and the such. I spent over $20,000 restoring my 85 Corvette at TAS Auto in Ogden Ut. (they advertise as Corvette experts). I am now replacing all of the wiring they destroyed, a new engine burns oil bad, and I could go on and on. They will not honor thier work even though they say warrantee everything they do. They replaced the heater core and blend door was installed wrong, as a result no heat. I asked them to warrantee the work and was told to get screwed. And now they are claiming to be Audi experts. (must get a higher rate) These kind of car butchers need to be put out of buisiness.

Just to prove i wasn't telling lies, here are some of the photos of the Gen 7 install, which we have had to rewire as all of the blue quik ties are failing, The first photo is the rats nest they left me under the passengers side hush panel. The 2nd is where they tied again with the blue fasteners into the harness. All of the fasteners are failing and I have replaced them with solder and shrink tube. The wired has failed multiple times and left me stranded. My brother is an attornery and we have started putting together a law suite. The 3rd was the incredible mess behind the firewall.
I've been to his shop once and won't go back. Just a arogent A-hole who is better suited for TV/Radio then wrenching on cars. When you question him on his answers he gets pissed real easily, like who the F##K are you to question his higher authority!
Usually a sure sign that BS is heading your way when someone reacts that way!

Since this thread is about what qualifies as good/bad technical service, I would specify timely response as one criteria.
