Alright guys, after my excessive heat issue that advisors had lead me to my cats on, what are the recomendations for highflow cats with a stock exhaust manifold setup? Bolt ups would be nice, but I guess if I'm going to do my cats I should also look at the header choices as well so suggestions on longtubes and cats for that route would be appreciated also.
I stuck with the stock cats on mine but then again, i'm running hooker shorty headers and there's talk that there's barely a difference in power increase. for the extra $$$ on hi flow, it's not with it to me. Going with RR for the boost instead.long tubes will get you the most power output and you could bolt on some random tech cats. Eastern performance makes a good set of bolt on hf cats if you go that route and stay stock.
I dont where you live but im in ohio with no emmisons and i took all 3 off my 86 corvette. It has flowmasters and now it sounds and runs very good.

cool!! you got your vette lets see some pics.. I missed the post
Each situation is different. I ran gutted stock cat on my 90 with Hooker long tube headers. After many years, I finally bit the dust and went with two high flow cats and they converted it to true dual exhaust. Cost about $500 - best $ I ever spent. Cat technology has improved in the last 20 years immensely. It runs so much better and sounds so much better.

But each car is different.
Do you have the two cats in the same spot as the original main cat? I thought that wouldnt fit?

On my 90 they fit. The hi performance cats they put in are cylindrical (unlike the original cats). They mounted them staggered one a little forward and one a little back so it does not take much room at all. They cut the Y pipe forward of where the two pipes combine into one and cut the rear pipe similarly. Added small sections of pipe and welded it all together. No problem at all.

Where did you install the H-pipe, before the cats? Any pics?
