I have a 88 convertible with an automatic transmission it and would like to have a manual. How hard and how much am I looking at. I'm not very skilled so I might have to pay someone to do this. Should I sell the car and look for a manual (I just put a dana 44 with 3.73 gears)
Sell it and buy a manual car, especially if you would not be able to do the conversion yourself. Also, look for a later C4 with the ZF 6 speed instead of an earlier C4 with the Doug Nash 4+3.
If you want a manual that bad I would sell it too.Forget the swap.I was thinking about putting in a 6 speed in my car.But decided it was not going too be worth it.But I sometimes change my mind like the wind I would never sell my car too buy a 6 speed car though.I would do the swap if I wanted too do it that bad.
I have been through 3 4L60s behind my 93 396 LT1. A swap should have been the first thing done. Due to not being able to afford a swap, a rebuild is going to happen.
So, if the plan is to do some real hp down the road, do it. Or buy a six speed car and let it be your project, and one for DD.
