1987 with a 383, 280H magnum comp cam, rpm performer and 600CFM Holley carb, should this run ok with the stock torque converter? well it really wont run at all until i find a ribbed water pump pulley and starter, also dropped the engine in today.... man engine was to high have to find a cowl scoop or hood.
The 280H cam is a pretty stout cam. Might want to idle higher than the stock converter will be happy with. Only one way to find out. Run it and see. Some manifolds are higher than others and could present a clearance problem. When I had my car carbed, I was able to find a lower profile Weiand maniflold.
i dont think the stock conveter will like it.. i had a similar yet roller cam in a carbed camaro with a stock stall and you could feel it pull on the lope. not saying it won't work but for traffic its not going to be ideal
Can't wait to see what this thing does man if i get pulled over here in san diego i'm screwed though, ya without a bigger hood i don't think the carb will be able to breath. So this is my first forum awesome help thanks guys, anyone know where i can find a 5 groove water pump pulley $100 seems crazy for a pulley
