You need to take it apart and replace either the pins or the mechanism.
replacing the pins won't help. It's the housing where hte pins go in that wears out because it is cheap/soft metal, and GM does not make that part anymore.
Do a search on the subject and you will find many many articles, tips, and links on the subject.

Bottom line is there is no cheap/easy fix.
Here is the GM part # for the kit from GM to fix the problem:
It's not that bad if you take your time, and take digital pics during disassembly ( a lot of pics ) and lay everything out neatly as you take it off so it makes re-assembly much easier.
I did the 4 loose screws with loc-tite method on a 1978 Olsmobile tilt colum in my hotrod and had no troubles. But....I did refer to my digital pics several times! things like "clip placement", "which way a spring goes", and so on. The pics on that 92 steering colum link above are very simalar to the 1978 colum I did, they have not changed much, except for the airbag related goodies.
That thread is awesome. Gives a great detailed rundown.
Anybody know where to get one of those tilt column pivot pin puller if we dont have access to a tool truck?? I am hopefully getting a buildable column and before I put it in I want to rebuild it.

think I found my on eBay or at a Napa store. You don't need a puller for the old/worn columns, the pins will fall right out! LOL
