I finally found where my 91' Vette is leaking. I have traced it to the the inner lining of the door panels where the corner meets the hood and runs down below the door. The water will slip down and follow the rubber seal down until it hits the carpet. I really don't want to mess up the carpet since it has been recently replaced. Any ideas about how to fix this problem other than replacing the weatherstripping or putting the Vette in the garage?(I am working on that one) Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated
Check condition of weatherstriping(interior & exterior). If any weatherstriping is bad-replace!-sounds like you just replaced carpeting which I'm sure wasn't cheap so don't cause any damage to new carpet. On the plus side weatherstrip is not too expensive for inner door seal & door seal weatherstrip. Its a corvette not a ford escort, take care of her.Corvettes are beatiful & parts are expensive,so if don't want to put more money into-sell it to someone who will & buy a newer, low mileage corvette. It will acually cost less in the long run than restoring it to like-new condition. You don't even need to ask me how I know this.
Maybe try some strips of plastic cut from a coffee can lid. Shims, ya know. Put them under the weatherstrip along with some new adhesize. You might be able to get a better seal and no more water coming in.
