Default Broken Window Stop Guide. Again!

I replaced my broken window stop guide Dec 2007. It looks like the new replacement piece has now broken after only a year and a half. I'm going to replace it again but I was wondering why it broke after such a short period of time.? Cheap plastic crap!? The passenger window is still functioning with the original factory piece.

Thanks

Here's the write-up I did in 2007. This time I'm doing the outer window seals also.

About to order another one. Any ideas here? The new convertible top release cable I just replaced several months ago also just broke. WTF?

I know the newer version from GM no longer has the felt on it like the old ones.

The appear to be similar plastic though. I was afraid it would rattle without the felt but it does not.

Good luck!

Just curious, you ride around with the window partially down?

I'm thinking the window has been flopping around causing premature plastic weaking.

hmm.. Not really. I hate the cold, so in the winter the windows are always up. In the summer I usually have the windows all the way down.

I think I'm going to pull off one of the stop guides this week and bring it to home depot to see what else I can come up with to fix it. Same thing with the convertible top release cable. Hopefully I can come up with a stronger solution.

Unfortunately aftermarket parts rarely stand up like our OEM stuff. Nor do they fit right, etc etc. Just the nature of the beast.
