Default Need some auto trans/drivetrain help!

Vehicle: 95 Coupe
Engine: LT1
Trans: 4L60E (auto)
DTC: C72 - Transmission speed signal loss (I believe)

Summary for those who don't want to read through it all:
  • Engine oil pressure at 15-20psi @ idle with an audible ticking noise (according to the gauge).
  • Engine oil pressure at cruising speeds above 15-20 mph goes up to between 30-40 psi (according to the gauge).
  • Slightly faster rise in engine oil temperate than usual, but temp holds steady like usual, just the pressure fluctations seemed not normal to me.
  • Transmission fluid is full, but not overfilled color is still pink with some burnt qualities to it, but the performance tranny in my car has less than 10k miles on it.
  • Transmission fluid temperature was about 170* while Engine oil and coolant were at around 180*-200*

What the hell could cause a tranny to "disengage" like mine did? For some reason I'm suspecting something with the rear end and not the tranny since there were really no forewarnings, no fluid leaking from the tranny, and I'm pretty sure why there is a puddle of fluid under the rear end that looks fairly fresh and not like it was left from the last POS that was sitting there.

I'm going to put it up in the air today since I work at a dealership and have access to the lifts, but I would like some guidance if any of have any clues.

Thanks!

Your trans is slipping, and the burnt fluid smell confirms it. What gears are slipping? If it is 2 and 4, you hurt the band. If it is 3 or 4, or both, you hurt the 3-4 clutchpack.

I would mostly agree with what you stated except I am having no slippage except in reverse. Reverse takes a few second at least to get going and as of lately was requiring a little coersion. Other than that, there was no noticeable slipping present. I'm wondering if the sun gear snapped as was common on the 4l60e's, just not sure if the corvette had that same shotty gear.
