I'm replacing my ABS Modulator valve soon and the manual says I must torque the nuts on the brake lines to a specified level. Hmmm, the only way to tighten the nuts AFAIK is with an open ended wrench - how the hell can I measure the torque - am I missing something?

Re: Brake line torque - how? (jfb)
jfb beat me to it, but I will add:
Your torque wrench should have come with a correction factor for using a crow's foot. The lever-arm extention of the crow's foot will alter the torque setting ( lower should be used ).
Just wanted to add, dont use standard open wrenches to do brake lines, get "line wrenches" to do the job and keep from stripping the nuts and bolts for the brake line set ups.For those that dont know for sure,"Line wrenches" are similiar to open ones but are not as open/wide in front as standard so you slip/fit it on one way only on the line nuts to loosen or adjust.Keeps stripping down BIG TIME.
As far as torque goes,I never have use a torque wrench for these jobs, just tighten by hand and feel.Never over tightened and never leaked either. So far so good...as soon as it was tight I went maybe 1/4 more by wrist movement and not arm.
