This is for a 91, not that it matters. I am trying to install a heated O2 sensor. I know that there is 1 wire that goes to the feedback and the other 2 will be grounded and hot.
Question is what to hook the hot wire to?
Some have said that they hook it to the wiper but that had the problem where it would get insufficient power when the wiper was being used.
Others have said to hook it to the emissions. HOWEVER, the problem also mentioned is that with the emissions wire, it isn't capable of withstanding the power needed.
Is the only solution to hook up a relay powered by the emissions stuff?
TIA. All good suggestions. I will have to probe some wires tomorrow and see which is the most convenient.
I take it that nobody thinks that the emissions wires supply enough amperage to do it? I am looking at the ZR1 schematics and it seems to run thru the 10 Amp AC fuse, if I am looking at things right. Personally, I am not confident that the emissions stuff which has 1 hot wire and grounds on the other one when the ECM sends a signal is sufficient.
I used the fan relay that is on the driver's inner fenderwell just
below the brake booster. The blue wire is hot.
Does a '91 have an Auxiliary Fan Relay mounted on the driver's
front fender? An old thread below illustrates a method of tapping
into the OEM circuit in a manner that leaves the original wiring
unscathed.
