Default '93 LT1 automatic: tv cable setting problems

A transmission shop incorrectly set the TV cable on my '93 after they replaced a cracked trans pump. When I got the car back it wouldn't shift out of first except at WOT, and turns out the tech basically just set the cable like you would on a non-LT1 car, by releasing the cable, opening the throttle, locking the cable, etc. It was basically at the longest (tightest) setting.

I ran thru the factory procedure as detailed here five times, test driving after each time:

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c4-t...an-lt-1-a.html

After each setting, it drives almost but not quite right. Under any acceleration besides the lightest throttle input, it shifts fine, but when just idling away from a stop light behind a bunch of other cars in heavy traffic, it short-shifts to second and then third at about 8-10 mph, instead of at about 20 mph as it did before. It's just not quite like it used to be.

I think my problem is related to the TV cable racheting mechanism. Sometimes when I apply the correct torque when setting, it rachets 3 "clicks", sometimes when applying the correct torque it rachets 4. Is it normal to have to fiddle with it several times to reach the right setting? Could the TV cable mechanism be failing?

This is SO frustrating, any first-hand experience would be appreciated. NOBODY around here seems to have any experience setting up the TV cable on these ASR-equipped LT1s. The GM dealership is my last resort if I can't get this sorted out.

It is possible that they may have messed with the governer inside the tranny while working on it. Good luck with it. I ended up using a universal tv cable and ran it to the throttle cable bracket b/c chevy doesnt make the tv cable for my 93 anymore and mine was frozen.
