Default Pics! Sending Unit Differences --- Help!!

So the sending unit in the picture is originally out of a 1986 corvette, that I am preparing to put into my 1984. I have changed the fuel pump out for the 1984 fuel pump and now I am stumped on the little electrical relay or something welded to the fuel pump's lines. (Marked as the blue circle)

What is this item?

The red circle is the pulsation dampener that did not come on the 1984. However, I am assuming I could put that on there just as an added bonus.

HELP!!!

Everything of the two units are the exact same except the pumps and the two things I circled in the picture. I mainly just want to know what the things is in the blue circle in the picture. (the electrical relay or whatever it is)

I would think others have interchanged these as well.
