A rear axle bearing would make noise when turning in the opposite direction. I can't believe they would be both going out. Unless it's the power steering pump, I can't think of what else it could be. I didn't think posi's moan.
I have a 95 with 50K on it that has a wine in the rear end when you turn right or left.It is really noticeable at low speed. Mine seams to be more pronounced on the passenger side. It is going in the shop on Tuesday to have it repaired. I will let you know what they find on mine. Maybe it will give you an idea where to look.
I found and repaired the problem today, I decided to lift the rear tires and sure enough the rear passanger wheel had play side to side. replace the whole rear hub since i had extra from a dana 44 swap. Thanks guys for the help..So the problem was the rear wheel bearings..
