92 transmission problem

92 transmission problem
i did sell my 92 auto LT1 coupe 3 weeks a go and yesterday the new owner call me to tell me that the transmission have a problem 
goes ok in reverse and ok in forward when cold but once hot just go in 1st and 2nd gear but dosen't want to upshift in 3rd or o/d but still ok in reverse...
i didn't have any trouble with it before so might it be a regulator or only a oil and filter change or he need to get the tranny redone
the car was only at 62k when he get it!!! thanks in advance for any help as now he want to claim me for the half of the cost of a new transmission

In the states, used vehicles are sold without any expressed or implied warranties, unless in writing.
