Default nos question

I have a chip in my vette and wanted to use a 75 shot of nos. I heard we can't use them both. One guy told me to get a new chip with an on/off swich. What are your thoughts?

Uh, depends what your chip does I guess. The only thing I could think is that you don't want a whole lot of advance because of detonation and you don't want to run lean.

I've been doing some research on the Nitrous issue and I can tell you that you'll probably need the following to use it safely...
- High flow in-tank fuel pump
- Bigger fuel lines (although most say that the stock fuel lines are ok up to a certain hp jetting)
- Bottle warmer (to keep pressure up)
- Window switch (to kill N2O flow when you're not in the proper RPM band (rev limiter) and kill it if you have an excessive lean condition)
- Progressive controller (doesn't hit with the full N2O shot immediately but in stages)
- Colder spark plugs (one range is the general consensus)

I'm not exactly sure on the chip - I'm sure some of these guys that have Nitrous can answer that. Seems that the one thing that gets people in trouble the most is not having adequate fuel supply with the shot. I've also learned that if you're smart about your setup, you should be able to enjoy countless squeezes. Hope this helps. :)

Most chips advance the timing but you can buy ignition from msd that will retard the timing when the nitrous is activated. With 75 shot you should retard about 2 degress less than stock add to that however much your chip is advancing over stock. :chevy

I agree with what everyone else has said about the ignition and fuel changes made by a chip, and you definately do not wanna fun lean on nitrous...but what cprgmr said about needing all the fuel supply equipment such as a fuel pump and lines is not needed on a vette. Stock fuel delivery on a Vette is extremely good, and runs safely in the 400 plus HP ranges. I don't think a shot of 75 nitrous equates to all that extra spending for security you already have. Just my two cents worth
