Washed my engine last week. Learned the hard way about water and the distributor. Looked on ebay to find one a little cheaper. found one for $69.9x + $10 shipping, buy it now price. Didn't post til now because I wanted to try it and see what happened. Runs like a champ! I replaced the plugs, wires, and coil while I had it apart. It seemed a little sluggish before the changeover, but I wasn't sure because this is my first Vette. I know the performance boost was not related to the opti (very little anyway), but it has performed as good as the old one so far. I haven't noticed any of the problems mentioned in other threads associated with non-oem or upgraded units. So, if anyone needs to replace theirs without spending $300+, this is an option to consider.

Sorry, but I would not advise anyone to buy a $70 ebay opti. How many miles has it been in there so far?

Bought the same one you are talking about, made in the same plant that manufacturers the MSD optis actually. Took it apart, sealed it with permatex and beefed it up for good measure. Running strong with 3k on it now.
I made a thread on this opti previously, but people wanted to make it a flame war. FWIW there is no longer an OEM opti maker Delphi/Delco have changed hands since them. Don't be afraid to try new products, I refuse to believe that after 15 years we should still be seeing Opti units selling for north of 300 dollars.
