I want to replace my stock coil and am looking at the MSD Blaster model 8226. I have a stock ignition system. I don't think that I need any type of wiring harness, but just want to check with you guys.

are there any better options ?
thanks
My MSD coil has been on for a few years now. No problems and no harness needed for my 95.
Just out of curiosity, why do you want to do a coil upgrade? If the rest of the ignition is stock and the motor is stock, the OEM coil will put out more than enough power.
If you still have the original plug wires, then I would start there for improved power to the plugs. I installed a set of MSD SuperConductor wires on my old 92 vert and that alone made a big difference. New plugs will help too if the OEM plugs are still there.
I put a blaster coil on my 92 at the same time I did the MSD opti and Super conductor wires. It has all worked very well for the year or so its been on there.
I've got the blaster coil on my 92. Not sure of the part number, but 8226 does sound familiar. Not sure what the stock replacement costs, but I payed $43 for mine from summit. I've also got an MSD cap & rotor kit, taylor 8.2mm wires, and NGK plugs. I did quite a bit of other work at the same time, so can't say really if the ignition stuff would have made any difference on the stock motor.
Oh yeah, and no special plug, harness, or modification needed.

Had the 8226 on my 92 and it lasted a year before starting giving problems. Car would quit but start back up. Rechecked all connections and could not find anything wrong... Went back to AC coil and no problems... I was at SEMA last week and stopped by the MSD booth and asked about the problem... They said they had some problems with the 8226 but has been corrected... But the 1 year warranty on mine was up and would not offer any help even though I said I have their opti, & wires...
