Default 5 point harness

Before I try to do the install. Is there any likely problems I am going to run into, tools or parts I am going to need, to install the lap belts in a 1990 C4? I have a R&D Racing sub belt / fire bottle mount, and an R&D harness bar. It's the lap belt is my concern.

Thanks

I thought it was pretty simple. I used a longer bolt for the lap belts to have both the stock harness and the race harness installed at the same time.

Easy Job. If you are going to drive it on the street you need to keep the stock seatbelts as the harness is not considered a seatbelt and if your state laws require seat belts you'll get a ticket.

So no special brackets required, just long bolts?

Plan to street drive the car 99% of the time, just putting in the 5 point for Solo2, time trials, and some non-competitive track events.

Thanks

a 6pt is easier, how do you plan on installing the subbelt with your 5pt?

Yep, already bought the seatbelt Pyrotect and the subbelt / fire extingisher mount (R&D Racing).

Definately don't wrap the sub belts over the front of the seat cushion. You need to bring them straight up through your legs, prefereably from behind your crotch area. The mounting bracket does that, right?

No it's designed to bring it over the front. I have to ask if the 2 inch difference is significant. I am 6'3" with helmet I am taller so I am sitting near the edge of the seat anyway.

I'm 6'4" and barely fit in my C4. I don't have the stock seats anymore, which actually makes it a bit worse. My cage is higher than my helmet, though, so I'm ok.

I definately recommend routing the crotch belts across the front of the stock seat. Cut a little slit in there so it comes up between your legs. A new seat cusion is cheap if you ever need to see the car...
