Need your help choosing??
My harmonic balancer slipped and knocked a hole in my timing chain cover, so I need to buy a new H/B but what and where to buy. Autozone sells only brand new they had Pioneer High Performance PN 872002 for $111.99, Pioneer Heavy Duty PN 3071 $111.99; Kragen had Pioneer PN 3071 for $63.99; NAPA had Balkamp PN BK6005214 for $54.99. My car is/was my daily driver mostly stock engine that doesn't see redline often please help choose a good OEM+ harmonic balancer, oh also inprocess of rebuilding tranny so $ is tight. TIA :)

I had the same thing happen to me on my 86, except it didn't do any extra damage, like the timing chain cover. I luckily was able to get one off a parts car of mine (i' in Japan, ordering things takes forever and I needed the car back up and running asap). Summit racing lists several in the camshaft & accessories section of their cat. The list a Summit brand oem style one for about 60 bucks. They also sell fluid dampers for around 250. ALl you really need is the oem one.
As far as the quality, Summit stuff is usally good, but I have not heard anything specific about their dampers.

I got a Pioneer DA-3701 off ebay, brand new for $45. It looks like a good quality component. It should be ok for you, too.
