I just bought a 1996 with the LT4/manual trans. Never had a corvette before. On the highway it runs around 185-190 according to the gauge. In traffic temp goes higher and at traffic light it goes way up.I did let it idle at home to see if fans kicked on and they did.Not knowing anything I just put in a new 180 thermostat and water wetter, with results about the same. Is this normal? Thanks, Tom

Normal, yes on my '93. So long as the primary fan is kicking on at about 225. The fan should then turn off after a drop of about 5 degrees.
Watch your digital gauge. Fans should come on low speed at 227*F and kick into hi at 236*F. Also take a flashlight and look into the opening on thepass side top of the fan shroud to see if there is junk in front of your radiator.
By the way, Water Wetter doesn't work with antifreeze in the radiator, it only works with straight water..For anyone up north its a waste of money!!...WW
thank you, both fans are kicking in properly and there's no debris in front. Highway temp is okay. I appreciate the quick responses. I feel much better now. Thanks again. Tom
