Sticking key switch when turning off engine

I've got a 93 and the key switch is a little difficult to turn off and release with the release button. I kinda have to chiggle it. Can anything be done to lubricate it to make it work a little easier or will I create additional problems?

If I can't lube it, what's the fix?

as it is 16 years old, it might just be that you need a new lock cylinder. They are not very expensive.

How do you replace the lock cylinder? Does it require new keys?

Check with a locksmith, they should be able to sell you a new lock cylinder & take care of the keys also

Pull airbag fuse, disconnect battery, remove airbag modual and airbag clockspring, lockplate, turnsiginal switch and the screw/pin that secures the key cylinder inthe column. un-plug the vat's conection at the base of the column, white and orange I think? snake out old snake in new from top. Re-assenble.
