About the cam, I absolutely agree that a roller is the best choice. More expensive but... roller profiles allow more area under the curve, less friction, and thanks to your friendly fed gov it is almost impossible to purchase a oil with a anti wear package that will work with a flat tappet cam. A chat with techs at a couple of the manufactures will get you set up with the right parts and grind. Dont forget to share all the details with your devoted fans!

Always keep a spare bottle. If you don't get the power you want you could always strap the NOS on later

I actually forgot to mention this was not my 350 TBI trans am. This was my 97 V-6 camaro when it was about 6 months old.

and I was wondering if swapping only the manifold to a carb manifold such as a cross ram (Smokey Yunick I believe) or a straight 2x4 bbl such as weind (sp?) or Edelbrock offer would get you ahead of the porting process..(and really was more of a "Gee couldn't these TBIs be used as replacement carbs... with the advantages?)
I replaced the CF system a few years back. Went to a XRam and found it did not work very well for me. Then I went to what the above poster referred to which is the Holley dual plane carb type manifold but specific for a 2 barrell TBI unit. I added the 7.4L TBI with large injectors and that is working very well. Fuel distribution is very good. Pretty much a straight shot to the combustion chamber. About as close to what above poster is refering to.

Some day a port fuel/single plane system will be in place. With my EBL is should be an easy conversion

Why are you here? If your motivation is to prove what an asshat you are, job well done! Now, go away and stop crapping in someone else's {very nicely done} thread.

Kangi, any update on your project? I'm curious what you've decided on for a cam.

Your car is beautiful, love the tinted glass, black with chrome wheels. Good luck.

I've got her all back together and I'm working on the tune right now. I'll get her back on the dyno once I'm happy with it.

I ended up staying with a flat tappet cam, I couldn't justify the extra cost of the roller cam conversion. Here's a link to the cam I used:

http://www.compcams.com/Cam_Specs/Ca...x?csid=92&sb=2

I've been shooting some video and will put out a finished project vid in the future.

Here's a rundown of what I ended up doing:

New cam, lifters, springs (see above)
Timing chain
Hand ported '113's
1.6 Harland Sharp roller rockers
Ported crossfire intake
Tpis headers
True dual exhaust(CC), no cats, with kbd targa mufflers
EBL flash ecm

Thanks for the compliment Tom

Interesting cam choice. I'm currently liking this Lunati one a LOT. It's slightly smaller, but Lunati says to only use it with other upgrades including a chip. I'll be very curious to see what your dyno results look like.

I'm also wondering if you did before-and-after compression tests to see the difference with the 113's.

Never did do a before on the compression test so I really don't have any solid compression data. I used Pat Kelly's Dynamic Compression Calculator to get my theoretical numbers. I looked at the lunati voodoo series and if I remember correctly, pushed my dynamic compression ratio up a little too much for my application. The comp cams had a little more overlap and allows for a lower DCR with the '113 heads, while still increasing it from stock. I can't find the papers I wrote all the stuff down on but I'm thinking it was in the high 8's. So a healthy increase over stock, but still streetable with pump gas.

I am ready to do a top end on my crossfire. I am really interested in bumping the compression with a set of 64 cc heads. Do you have the cylinder volume at TDC? Or the piston depth and valve relief volume?

Thanks
Dave

I'm not a fan of resurrecting old threads, but this one is interesting to me as I was looking at these heads the other day.

Any update here on the results of the mods, kangi?
