Re: restrictor plates (BBA)
There just swirl plates not really restrictor plates. I dont know how substantial the gain is for removing them but it wont do much for the idle. Try over in the crossfire injection vault. I was gonna cut mine out but someone there talked me out of it. They do have an excellent step by step instruction for that mod and many more.

Re: restrictor plates (CFI-EFI)
at the risk of sounding dumb, what exactly is a restrictor plate and what does it do?
i know it makes the car slower on nascar but i dont know much other than that

Re: restrictor plates (1996man)
On the CFI manifold, it is a little vaned plate that sits directly under the throttle body's blades. It is part of the upper manifold plenum and GM refers to this one in particular as a "diffuser". Removing it reduces airflow obstructions, so people refer to it as a "restrictor".
In nascar, a restrictor plate is a metal plate with 4 calibrated holes that sit under the carb's throttle blades, with the purpose of limiting intake system air flow to something like 390 CFM. ( and they still make 700+ HP ).
