I am some error code issues. The main one is code 43 (Low voltage at electronic spark timing circuit). I replaced the module in the distributor, but I still get the code 43.
I also get an occasional code 54 (Low voltage at fuel pump OR Low voltage at Fuel pump relay OR Output failure at quad driver module). This error code comes and goes.
The car is a 1985 vette with a 1990 f-body (7730) ecm and a custom chip.
I need some direction as to possible fixes for this.
Try taking off the custom chip, and see if that does the trick. It's a process of elimination. You may have a faulty fuel pump too. If you want to get rid of the code, you can take it to anyone who has a code reader, they will be able to turn off the code; if it comes back on. Houston you got a problem.

The chip is fine. The SES came on years after the chip was done. I have no problem reading the codes. You can't just "turn off" a error code. It will come back on as soon as you clear it and restart the engine.
Houston.....I already know I have a problem..... thus, the post.

This might sound stupid, but a buddy of mine got a scanner device from a local parts store around here (auto zone) where they let him take it and he shut off codes on a car he sold my kid 4 years ago, it never came back on and still passes emissions after that.
Worth a try to call and see if their equipment can do yours. his car is OBD1

I don't know what else to say other than I want to fix the issues. Turning off / hiding error codes is like putting lipstick on a pig.
Sorry I misunderstood, I thought you got it fixed now but the codes still showed.
never mind, good luck have you tried DC vettes yet? Some there seem to be deeper into these cars.
I had both at the same time. Ugh. I fixed the 54 with a new fuel pump relay. It was really cheap at Autozone, and takes like 3 minutes to put in. I may have just got lucky but it worked like a charm.
The 43 I haven't fixed yet, so if you figure it out, let me know!
Dave for code 43...for the 85 ecm it it the esc ckt. Spark control You may have to trace you wires for the 90 ecm. Its been a long while.
How exactly did this start again??
I wiould have to dig to see if I still have the 90 ecm print outs.
I do have a the 85 gm manual if you are interested. Give me a PM. It is detailed. Way better than a hayes manual. It speciifc for hte 85 vette from GM. The cover is missing. Lost of use but the rest of the book is decent.

It just came on one day. The MSD box took a dump (caused a no spark issue), so it was taken off. The hypertech coil in the cap is being used at this time. It ran fine with no codes and then out of nowhere, code 43 came to visit.
I finally fixed my code 43. I said one day, screw it, the car is going on jackstands until the problem is fixed...
I got the car up, and pulled on the connector to unplug it and check the connector, and the wire pulled right out! Packrats got in and chewed the KS wire in half.
Anyhow, I just ran a new wire from the ESC module to the KS, and instant fix!
Moral of the story: check the wire from the ESC module to the KS first.
