Default Let's go bench racing

I tried posting this on a couple other boards, and so far I've heard low 12s to mid 14s. Hopefully there's enough TPI guys here that we can get into a fairly reasonable guess-fest. Anyway, this is all in an 85 IROC, not a Y-body, but hopefully I'll get some good feedback.

Hopefully this spring I'll have my major problems ironed out and I'll be able to get some legitimate runs in at the track, instead of the piece of crap 16 second runs I had a couple summers ago.

So... here's what I'll have in place by spring:

Motor:
355 cubic inch
flat top forged pistons
stock rods
461 fuelie heads, no port work, z28 springs, 1.94/ 1.5 valves
214/224 .442/.465 112lsa summit hydraulic cam
accel super ram base
SLP runners
ported plenum
48mm throttle body
24lb/hr SVO injectors
Heddman 1 5/8" headers
3" high flow Dynomax cat
either 2.5" dynomax catback or 3" catback of unknown type (I haven't decided on a brand yet but I doubt it matters much)

Trans:
T5

Rear:
3.42 gears
brand new SLP take-off posi diff
28 spline moser axles

Computer:
165 ECM with custom PROM that I'll be burning myself.

suspension:
stock, Jamex lowering springs
Spohn SFCs

Now... assuming I can get get a handle on the PROM burning, what sort of 1/4s would you fine folks expect?

I'm really, really hoping for real low 13s.

After I get this setup running well, I'll be upgrading to a T56, then AFR 190s and a much bigger cam, but first things first. :smash:

With the computer programmed correctly, a good driver and enough traction (DRs), I betcha you'd see high 12s with the right gearing.

Although I just don't know enough about the T5 with a 3.42 rear. With proper gearing (not saying that your gearing setup isn't proper, just unknown to me) you'd have to be in the 12s.

Assuming that it's geared a bit tall for 1/4 mile work (going through the traps near the end of third gear instead of 4th) and running street tires, I'd say 13.5s all day long at 105 mph or so.

But, just a guess.

Flat top pistons with 64cc heads should bring me in around 10:1, maybe a tad higher.

I would guess right around a 12.80, you've got pretty much the same setup as me, and I'm hoping for very low 13's. You've got better heads, different trans(but I've got a high stall, kind of equivilent to letting the clutch slip) and a shorter rear-gear, so I think you're definitely going to see somewhere in the 12's.

Good luck!

I would bet on mid to low 13's, maybe squeeze a high 12 on a good day.
