What is the easiest way to determine if my 93 is "Early" or "Late"? I thought I read somewhere that the serpentine belt will tell you. It is either ribbed on both sides or only one side. But which is which? And is there any other way to tell? Thanks in advance! :flag
Well, let's put it this way, my '92 has the belt ribbed on both sides, so I would assume that if it was changed, it would be in the latter half of the '93 production.
The best way to tell is if it has the newer electronic trans. If it has a throttle pressure cable it is early. My car has all the other late stuff, but an early trans. Must have been mix and match day when mine was made.
On mine, the production date is on a sticker inside the door jam. I believe the later models had the styrofoam bumper insert as well as the belt that is only grooved on one side. The 93 never had the electronic transmission.
Well to generalize, the serial # starts at 100001 and ends at 121142, so it will help you narrow it down. Mine has a build date of July 93, and my # is 120910, so it's safe to say that mine is a late one.
