Reverse Rotation of PS Pump
I need to make some space under the hood for some upcoming mods. I have decided to change to v-belts. I only need altenator, water pump and PS.
Does anyone know if you can reverse the rotation of the steering pump or do I need to by a new one? This is an 86.

No, I cant use the back of the belt because then I would need a pulley above it to put tension on the pulley. I'm trying to keep that area clear.

I would normally think that you cannot reverse the direction of the pump but I can not find any parameters when ordering one if it is clockwise or counter clockwise rotation. Any of the new retrofit ones are clockwise rotation but ours and the LT1 camaros are cc rotation.

these are very similar to ones used in fwd cars. i am sure that you could figure something out with some research on the internet.. try rockauto.com they are usually good for having pics and good descriptions.

No you can't turn it the wrong way, it won't pump. You can have Turn One modify it to work the opposite way or just buy the correct rotation pump. I believe the C5 uses an aluminum PS pump that turns clockwise. It looks identical but I haven't tried installing one so cannot say for 100%.

Talk to Turn One and see what they say abut your needs. If you are going to be running the engine at high RPM's a stock L98 pump may not last long.
Also run a good size PS cooler and a full synthetic fluid like Red Line. Perma-Cool and Hayden have good coolers; there is a Perma-Cool unit with -6 AN fittings. Turn One would be able to build a pump with AN fitting for the return side.
