I just noticed this...
When the climate control is blowing out cold air it comes out of the very top vent near the windsheld and from the floor.
There is no setting that I can get cold air to come out the normal vents.
When I set it to the little arrow pointing at the guys head, it comes out full blast at the windsheld vent?
Any idea on this?
I'm going to give this link only cuz it says it says it applies to 90 to 96 Vettes with the C68 RPO code; I don't know if it will work for ya, but here goes: www.idavette.net/tech/c4diag.htm
I don't know the system nor have I looked it up yet, but there should be a gate-like valve that selects which duct to send the air. Your malfunction is probably there at the actuator.
I had this same problem last summer. I took the car to a a/c shop and after two days of searching they found that a couple of the vacuum tubes that control the vents were sucked flat. They replaced the vacuum tubes and all is well. :yesnod:

Where might I find these wonderful tubes...under the hood or under the dash?
Re: climate control wierdness...... (Yellow Fever)
Not yet.... Still trouble shooting the problem with mine but I think its the mixture door. But I did have the dash apart. When I installed 4x6 speakers in the dash. I think I saw about ~6 tubes. 2 acuators on the left and 1 on the right. One under the passager side. And a programer on the driver side. Getting old memery fading.... :D
I would guess it's a vaccume leak...for safety reasons if there is a vaccume failure the defrost vent will open default to open. On my LT1 it was the little check valve under the passenger side fuel rail cover....it was sorta disenagrated.
Tom
here's a pic of the controller(if that is the one used by GM in your guys' cars(I don't know)
I have some limited experience having fun with that maze of tubing and where they go. The 89's might have similar routing as yours. I might be able to point ya in the right direction.
