I bought stinger-style mufflers from Mid America and I think while I'm at it I will buy their dual exhaust system to hook it to. So why not slap headers on while I'm at it?
Any suggestions on what headers would work well on an 84?
I use the Hedmens on mine. The install was quite easy and the only modification was the Alt bracket. But that was easy as well. Mine are the cheaper ones with the A.I.R in them.
Another good one would be the Hedmen Elites or hooker. Very Common. Personally I like the hedmen elites.
While Exotic Muscle log tube headers are kinda pricey, you get what you need in the way of spacers for a/c and the alt brackets and they have been tweeked so they fit right. They are ceramic coated which looks alot better than rusted ones under the hood. Merle is starting another group purchase so it may take a little while for production to start but you can also get them "customized" for your app. I got mine without the AIR connections as I have removed my pump but with the O2 bungs to keep the right info going to the ecm. They also were 1-3/4 to match high performance head outlet ports.
Run a search on these headers and I doubt you will find any negative comments. I checked out most of the leading brands and generally buy Hedmans on most cars but my Corvette gets the best I can afford. My .02 anyway.

Almost any 350 will gain more in the lower rpm range with the smaller 1 5/8" tube headers vs 1 3/4" tubes. Because of the engine size, few if any will be restricted in the upper rpm range. With an '84, with NO upper rpm range the smaller tube headers will gain you the most over a wider rpm range. This applies to L98s, also.
It seems the Hedman Elite headers are one of the best, "bang for the buck".
