Default Cutouts installed today.

Having custom cutouts done today. The mechanic called this morning and said something about having to install them in place of the "central muffler" other wise they would be a waste. I said that the thing in the middle of the car was a resonator not a muffler. Mechanic insisted they are the same thing. I figured you guys with "Muff elims" still have the resonator so it should still work. Told him to do it anyway and if it sounds like crap i'll just have to change it. I didnt want to have my exhaust exit directly underneath the passenger compartment. I am going to pick the car up in a little bit... I'll give you my opinion, sound clips, and pictures a little later today.

I thought a resonator was a chamber designed to cancel unwanted frequencies and that a muffler was designed to baffle the sound. Am i wrong?

Yep, the resonator on our cars is nothing more than a straight flow dual pipe muffler. The cutouts would have to be in front of the resonator to be effective. Otherwise you would just be installing REAL short eliminators.....

yep, cutouts should go before the resonator, and maybe before the cats too (depending on how much you want your ears to bleed:eek: !)

I am not a big fan of cutouts, so I would be surprised if you picked up anything but a loud exhaust by doing them. Just my opinion, not meant to flame. Hope they work out for you like you want them to.
