What is a screw in dipstick? Do you have to tap the hole in the block and screw it in? This sounds like a better seal than the press in.

Paul,
The Canton book says that the 15-240 pans work with the stock starter. It shows in the book to mean the pans listed below.
15-240 pre-80 blocks
15-240M 80-85 blocks w/Right side dipstick
15-240T 86 and newer blocks w/one piece seal

Screws in the oil pan. They are kind of expensive for what they are so I just reused the stock stick. I removed it once when installing headers and didn't have any issues with it sealing.

Ive got a canton sitting in a box waiting to go on my 94, and now after reading this I have a few questions and comments.

1. I know for sure that the stock Lt1 pump has a 3/4 pickup hole in it. (m155)

2. I did not know you had to get rid of the stock tray but it makes sense and now Ill order some new main bolts. Glad I read this.

3. I did not know the melling select pumps( black box) would fit in the pan, do they really?
When I rebuilt my engine i went to jegs and tried all the small block select pumps and none would fit in the stock C4 pan. Does the canton really hang lower, I honestly did not think it was.

4. I do have a M55HV in the car now and in my car, it would suck the stock pan dry on road courses, hence the canton, adding an extra quart of oil helped but oil temps got high. I already got the m155, but if the select pump fits I would rather run it.
